The excavation work of the transferred rock and mud mountain progressed quite smoothly. The soil layers and crushed stones covering it were systematically stripped away, gradually revealing the things buried underneath.
Besides the huge alien beast skeletons commonly seen in the Giant Beast Bone Field, the cleared items were mixed with a large amount of traces obviously belonging to artificial creations. Among them, the most commonly seen were a type of curved metal base, usually cast from some corrosion-resistant dark alloy, with regular nail holes on the edges.
Attached to the bases were often large pieces of thick but broken transparent material fragments, similar to glass, but the texture was more translucent and harder.
On the surfaces of these bases and "glass" fragments, some finely etched runes could still be distinguished. Those were reinforcement-type magic runes that had long lost their function.
What is this?
Reinforced large glass jars?
Always felt the style was somewhat familiar.
Recalling carefully for a while, Lin Jun finally thought of the source of this familiar feeling.
Vision shifted, cutting to the place where he first saw Chisi's Heart.
That was a secret chamber with a broken door. Chisi's Heart was originally skewered here by two collapsed pillars, and around it were some long-broken metal instruments.
Comparing them now, the styles were indeed somewhat similar.
There should be some connection between the two, but what specifically it was remained unknown for now.
As the excavation continued, more glass jar wreckage was dug out, though varying in size, the largest having a diameter of over a hundred meters.
Among them, the most intact one preserved was a jar with a bottom diameter of less than thirty centimeters.
The outer shell of the entire jar was almost intact, just the glass broken with a small hole. And inside the jar, a small alien beast skeleton was actually preserved!
One must know, due to the spatial collapse impact of the dungeon's disintegration, almost all the surviving remains were large alien beast skeletons. A small alien beast skeleton preserved so intact could be said to be extremely rare.
But the point that surprised Lin Jun wasn't this, rather the combination of this glass jar plus an alien beast locked inside reminded him of something else.
Experimental subjects?
But thinking about it, it seemed nothing was wrong.
In the subsidiary space of Dungeon No. 13 under his own control, weren't detailed records of the God of Light experimenting on the "Sunstone" preserved as well!
It was just that the testing ground might not be inside the space, or the main equipment had already been transferred.
The subsidiary space of this alien beast bone field was probably also used by some big shot to conduct experiments.
Thinking this way, those alien beasts should all be experimental subjects, right?
However, soaking in glass jars or whatever, although magic runes were carved on them, always gave a kind of technological-side visual illusion, feeling very advanced!
Lin Jun also discovered that the marks of each experimental subject were carved on the bases of these jars.
Most were concise numerical designations, like "012", "047", "109".
However, on one exceptionally severely damaged base fragment, the carving was not numbers. It was a line of incomplete demonic text; most characters could no longer be recognized, only barely able to make out a word "Sin."
Criminals? Or... Seven Sins?
Unfortunately, this jar was severely damaged. Not only was the handwriting blurred, but what was stored inside in the past was also unknown.
He properly collected all the excavated artificial objects, leaving them for future research.
The excavation work continued to advance toward the core of the rock and mud mountain. Finally, after moving away the last piece of rock slab mixed with broken bones, the scene below made all dwarven miners stop their movements.
A black "wall" appeared before them.
A dwarven foreman tentatively touched that black surface gently with the tip of his pickaxe.
No sound, no recoil, pushed away by an irresistible repulsive force. He gritted his teeth, swung the pickaxe with all his might and smashed down. The result was the same; not even a bit of debris could be scraped off.
Some people even tried magic like Flame Impact or Ice Cone, but they all annihilated silently like water droplets falling into a desert.
It was Lin Jun's first time seeing it too. So this was what the outside of a subsidiary space looked like?
Holding the mentality of giving it a try, the Puchi stepped onto the spatial outer shell, using spiritual power to flick along the familiar path.
In the next second, under the astonished gazes of all the excavators around, that round Puchi suddenly disappeared from the spot, as if erased from drawing paper by an eraser!
A commotion arose in the crowd. Everyone instinctively stepped back a few paces, faces mixed with fear and bewilderment, deeply afraid they would also be silently swallowed by that bizarre black wall.
But in fact, their worry was superfluous.
Although the former dungeon this subsidiary space attached to had long collapsed, and part of the space itself was therefore embedded into the main world, it wasn't something you could casually enter or exit just by getting close and bumping into it.
Even though its "lock" had failed, wanting to enter it required at least the ability to find its "doorknob."
Lin Jun traveled back and forth to the subsidiary space of his own dungeon every day. He was already thoroughly familiar with the entry and exit methods, so he could enter whenever he wanted.
As soon as he entered, Lin Jun saw even more jars!
However, unlike those tattered wrecks outside, most of the jars here were preserved relatively intact. A few inside even soaked intact alien beasts.
But Lin Jun couldn't see their panels, meaning although the physical bodies were preserved intact, they were actually already dead, right?
Lin Jun wasn't in a hurry to research these experimental subjects, but controlled the Puchi's perception toward the other side. Over there were familiar information blocks!
No information blocks were found during the previous excavation. This was probably because this kind of information block could only exist in this kind of subsidiary space with an environment similar to the abyss.
A portion of the subsidiary space fusing meant that a portion of the information blocks had inevitably disappeared.
But right now, better look at what could be found in the information still existing here first.
The Puchi extended a tentacle, tapping into the nearest information block.
Then Lin Jun saw the familiar record format:
[Experimental Item Name: Blood Calamity]
[223rd Experiment Record]
[Experimental Subject: 061]
[Third month. Under further alienation by Blood Calamity, the flesh proliferation phenomenon on 061's body became more severe. Originally thought it would also follow the footsteps of experimental subjects from the same period, collapsing and disintegrating, but before that, its blood underwent new changes]
[Blood Calamity's guided mutation took further effect. After its blood detached from 061's body, it actually fused on its own, forming new independent entities]
[Through observation, these entities can split and reproduce on their own after eating. Can already be considered a new species detached from 061]
[Although there was an unexpected harvest, unfortunately, these split entities still do not carry souls]
[Pure physical mutation might not be able to create new souls, but this mode of splitting and proliferation did give me quite a bit of inspiration. Can souls also proliferate through self-splitting?]
[Regardless, 061's sub-entities managed to survive]
[Named 061 as Sagas, its sub-entities named Blood of Sagas]
...
...
...
Artifact Blood Calamity? Physical mutation?
This seemed to be the God of Light's experimental project prior to the Sunstone.
Unfortunately, Lin Jun's Blood Calamity was temporarily kept by that Vampire Emperor; otherwise, he could try this interesting mutation gameplay right now.
Looking at the other information blocks nearby, Lin Jun picked one randomly and extended his tentacle over again.
According to experience, these information blocks were probably all experiment records regarding Blood Calamity. Lin Jun planned to read a few more before turning back to research the things inside those jars.
However, the information this time completely changed style...
[Truly too superficial, the application of Blood Calamity]
[Can't even fully control the things created by oneself]
[So-called gods, are but so-so]
Who is this? Speaking even more arrogantly than myself?!
